PRINTMAKING WORKSHOPS

Gregory runs creative workshops for both beginners and more experienced artists.

He has introduced linocut printmaking to primary schoolchildren and shared his creative process with fellow printmakers.

At his recent two-day course Cutting Edge: The Art of Simplyfing Linocut at Leicester Print Workshop, eight artists learned about Gregory’s creative approach including having a clear goal to aim for in producing A4 handmade linocut prints using soft Japanese vinyl,

Key aspects of the course covered picture composition, editing, scale, creating the illustration trace, applying it permanently to the linocut vinyl plate, cutting the plate, inking up and printing. The course also showed how to create a second ‘twin’ vinyl linocut plate using the same original image as well as covered useful tips on making corrections when mistakes have been made in cutting the vinyl linocut plate.

By the end of the two day course all the artists had progressed in producing their own unique linocut prints.
